Exciting New Donation Makes Music to the Ears in Missoula

The University of Montana in Missoula is home to amazing academic and athletic programs.  To help support at events at the school, the college band will now have some new hardware to sport at games and more.

It is all thanks to a generous donation from two former Grizzly students who saw a need for more sound coming from the band section during the National Championship Game in 2024.

Former Graduates Make Significant Two-Part Donation to Music Department

After attending the National Championship Game in Fresno, Texas last year, Ren and Kelly Obrigewitch wanted to help their alma mater with something that might make a difference at games.

More sound coming from the band section at games.  A true calling for more "cowbell".

After consultation with the school and with Dr. Kevin Griggs, director of athletic bands, a plan to help the department create more magic at games to keep school spirit at the maximum level.  A two-part donation is now helping the Grizzly be much more "brassy" at games.

Donation Includes Endowment Scholarship and 24 New Trumpets

The two-part donation includes a new endowment scholarship for trumpet students at the U of M.  But the Obrigewtich's didn't stop there.  The second part of the donation is making the most noise of all.

The couple also donated 24 brand new trumpets to the U of M music department to make the section even louder and better.  Those instruments are now being used at games and more.  You can read the full press release from the college here.
