
Great Falls Fire Rescue Celebrates New Leadership Promotions

New Promotions for Great Falls Fire Rescue Members
Over the past months in Great Falls, dating back to November of 2024, the Great Falls Fire Rescue teams haven't had a whole lot of time to take a breather. Our city has seen an unordinary number of house fires in that time, totaling double digits.
In a much-needed break from fighting fires across the city or any of the other plethora of jobs and services that GFFR does, they were able to come together to present new promotions to several members recently in Great Falls.

Chief Jones Promotes Five from Within the Department in Great Falls
In a ceremony with family and friends held at the downtown fire station, Chief Jones promoted 5 individuals to new titles for the department.
Those promoted in the department include:
- Battalion Chief Nick Damyanovich
- Captain Steven Luwe
- Captain Jed Sauder
- Lieutenant Joshua Mattson
- Lieutenant Tyler Osweiler
In making the announcement, the Great Falls Fire Reserve said of those being promoted:
Each of these individuals have shown outstanding commitment, leadership, and service to our department and community. We’re proud to see them take on these new roles and continue to lead with integrity, passion, and professionalism.

GFFR is much more to our community than just firefighting. Did you know that the department handles things such as:
- Fires
- Medical emergencies
- Hazardous materials
- Technical rescues - ice & cold-water rescues
- Confined space rescues

They also have duties that deal directly with the fire aspect:
- Conduct Safety Inspections of each business in the City of Great Falls
- Maintain the City’s fire hydrants
- Train extensively to keep skills honed and maintain required certifications
- Maintain their own equipment and buildings
- Offer extinguisher classes and tours of the fire stations
