Opinion – Just Make It the Music Hall of Fame
Opinion - Just Make It the Music Hall of Fame
When it comes to music, there really isn't a particular genre that I can't listen to for a period of time. Classical, jazz, rock, country or even rap can all be found on my personal playlist.
But if we are going to put people into the "rock and roll" hall of fame, shouldn't they have a little bit of that title in their music? Because if you check the names being inducted into the hall for 2024, it is far from "rock".
New Inductees Include Some Rock and Some Definitely Not Rock
Now, don't get me wrong here. There are rock bands that will be inducted for 2024 at the presentation and induction ceremony on October 19th. And usually, there are several. But in the past several years, more artists that maybe aren't "rock" have made their way into the hall.

Which leads me to think perhaps a different name needs to be attached to the famous building that houses the "rock and roll" hall of fame. Maybe we just need to name it the music hall of fame instead?
This Year's Inductees and Presenters - The List is Eclectic for Sure
This year's ceremony will feature the following inductions to the rock hall:
- Mary J. Blige
- Cher
- Dave Matthews Band
- Foreigner
- Peter Frampton
- Kool & the Gang
- Ozzy Ozbourne
- A Tribe Called Quest
See what I mean? Of those, I can only see 3 that would deserve it. Foreigner, Frampton and Ozzy. The others produced great music, but is it rock?

To further bolster my argument, check out the presenters for the show this year:
- Chuck D
- Dr. Dre
- Busta Rhymes
- Demi Lovato
- Dua Lipa
- James Taylor
- Julia Roberts
- Jelly Roll
- Keith Urban
- Kenny Chesney
- The Roots
- Roger Daltrey
- Sammy Hagar
- Slash
And again, I ask, seriously? These are the icons of the rock world that are presenting awards. You have to be kidding me. Like I said, let's just rename the thing the Music Hall of Fame and be done with it.
