
Great Falls Public Library Announces New Director
In July of 2025, the Great Falls Public Library announced that current director Susie McIntyre had submitted her resignation. The effective date of the resignation was December 27, 2025, giving time for the Board of Directors to choose a new replacement.
The process included developing the job description, posting the opening, reviewing applications, and conducting initial screening interviews. After a late summer and fall interviewing process, the Board has finally made a decision on who will be leading the GFPL into 2026 and beyond.

Great Falls Public Library Announces New Director
In a press release earlier this week, the GFPL announced that "Amy Dissmeyer has agreed to serve as the new Director of the Great Falls Public Library." A special meeting was held on November 14, 2025, to offer the job to Dissmeyer with her first day at GFPL on Jan. 5, 2026.

Ms. Dissmeyer arrives from Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she served as the director of the Spirit Lake Public Library. She also was Library Director from 2009-2024 in Hastings, Nebraska. Dissmeyer has a master’s degree in library information science from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Farewell Party for Public Send Off of Current Director in Great Falls
The city's public library has seen many changes under the tenure of out-going director Suzie McIntyre, including:
- Navigating the Covid-19 Pandemic
- Acquiring a new bookmobile
- Building upgrades including boiler and flooding issues
- negotiating a new contract with the city
After a 20-year career, a public farewell party for Susie McIntyre will be held December 9 from 5 to 6 PM on the first floor of the library.
