
CCHD in Great Falls Announces Immediate Warning About Flu
Mother Nature has been pretty nice to us so far this year in Great Falls and across Montana when it comes to weather. Mild temperatures and not a lot of snow have made for a mild winter. So far.
What hasn't seemed to diminish during the fall and winter season is the rampant spread of influenza across the city. And unfortunately, the ailment has also led to deaths associated with it in Great Falls.

CCHD in Great Falls Announces Immediate Warning About Flu
The Cascade County Health Department issued a news release detailing two recent deaths in Great Falls due to influenza. Those deaths came at the close of 2025, with both individuals being under the age of 70.

In all, the flu season in Cascade County and Great Falls has been a busy one. In the last 4 weeks, the CCHD reports 393 cases of influenza. And of those, 38 required hospitalizations.
CCHD Offers Tips to Help Battle Influenza During the Winter Months
The health department issued several tips that may be of help with keeping the bug at bay this season. Always wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when possible. People are also reminded to stay home if you believe you are sick. They also suggest immunization, as it is the most effective form of defense.
CCHD recommends the following for receiving the vaccine:
- Adults aged 60 and over
- Women who are 32-36 weeks pregnant
- Newborns and babies under the age of 1
- Children up to 24 months who may remain at risk
