 An Honor to Be Asked to Help with This Amazing Dedication in Great Falls

Over nearly 40 years of service in the broadcast industry, I have been a part of many an amazing event.  My job has afforded me the opportunity to interview celebrities, musicians, politicians and dignitaries.

But never have I had one as quite as unique as what I was asked to be a part of recently.  When was the last time you were at a flag dedication ceremony?  I mean for a brand new, never unveiled type flag.

How To Conduct a Flag Dedication Ceremony in Your Area

First off, what size of flag should be on your list and where the flag will be displayed.  According to the US Flag Code, in general sizing, a 5ft. flag would require a 15ft. pole to be used.  An honor guard will present colors to those in attendance while walking the new flag to the pole.

Once the presentation of colors has finished, the flag will be raised as briskly as possible to the top of the pole.  A recital of the Pledge of Allegiance and a singing of the National Anthem also accompany the ceremony.

Veterans in Great Falls Receive Recognition from Anonymous Donors

A new, large flag can be spotted flying high across the city as of May 3, 2024.  A group of anonymous donors purchased a 50ft. flagpole and flag that it is now installed on the No.1 green at Hickory Swing Golf Course in Great Falls.

According to a social media post from the golf course "This was anonymously donated for all of us to enjoy and to remind us how blessed we are to live in the greatest country to ever exist. We want to honor the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom and liberty."

This truly was an honor to be asked to be a part of.  An immensely moving event I hadn't ever experienced.  My sincere thanks to those anonymous donors, the Montana Air National Guard and Hickory Swing Golf Course for including me.
