The incident was shared by Great Falls police in a disturbing update late on Tuesday about an situation that took place at Sacajawea Elementary earlier that afternoon.

Great Falls Police Respond to Threats Made by a Parent of Elementary Student

In an update shared to Facebook on Thursday afternoon, Great Falls police shared details about an incident involving the parent of a student at Sacajawea Elementary.

"Today (3/17/26), at approximately 10:30 AM, School Resource Officer Detective Kinsey received information regarding a potential threat," Great Falls police said in their post, "The alleged threat was made by a parent of a student at Sacajawea Elementary."

"Kinsey received credible information that the parent had voiced threats toward school staff and students in the recent past."

I know it's been discussed before but if this isn't a good reminder about the importance of having a school resource officer, I don't know what is!

Police shared that school staff attempted to contact the parent in an effort to keep them away from the school, but according to police, "those communication efforts went unacknowledged."

The school was placed into a shelter-in-place as Detectives Kinsey and Fleming waited for the parent inside of the school,

"At approximately 12:00PM, Kinsey and Fleming observed the suspect drive onto school property and quickly took them into custody," police shared.

"The suspect has been charged with Intimidation (MCA 45-5-203), a Felony, and remanded into custody at the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner's Office Adult Detention Center."

School Resource Officer Saves the Day

Without the swift work of the school resource officer, there is absolutely no telling what this parent could have been capable of. This further proves that having an officer on standby is a great way to defuse a situation before it gets out of control.

I'm not sure what the parent is going through but hopefully, the individual gets the help they need and this situation works out for all parties involved.
