Debunking the Rumor About Trick-or-Treating at Holiday Village Mall in Great Falls
Man, social media, am I right? News (and rumors) can spread like a wildfire. Recently, a Facebook post began circulating about the Holiday Village Mall "canceling" trick-or-treating this year.
As you'd expect, people were not happy and immediately began bashing the mall.
Facebook Post Says Holiday Village Mall Cancels Trick-or-Treating... But Are They?
I came across a particular Facebook post about the Holiday Village Mall discontinuing trick-or-treating this year.
"Holiday Village Mall in Great Falls will not be doing trick or treating this year," the post said along with a screenshot of a letter about the decision.

"Mall management handed these out not even 30 minutes ago and we had it sent to us. So, if you are looking for a safe, weather friendly place to take your kids to in Great Falls for trick or treating look elsewhere."
The letter read:
"Dear Holiday Village Mall Tenants, I am writing to inform you that Holiday Village Mall will not be participating in trick-or-treating this year. The decision was made after careful consideration following feedback and concerns from several tenants.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe, comfortable, and productive environment for all of our businesses and visitors.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to the management office."
And that's exactly what I did.
Will There Be Trick-or-Treating at Holiday Village Mall This Year?
Yes. Point blank: yes, there will be trick-or-treating and I learned that by simply calling the phone number.
I personally spoke with Pam, Administrative Assistant for Holiday Village Mall by phone in a conversation she gave permission for me to share with you here.

"Yeah, so pretty much what we're doing this year is we're letting the stores decide if they're going to participate instead of every year we've made them participate," Pam explained. "And some of the stores have complained that every year it kind of takes money out of the employees' pockets because they have to supply the candy."
"And like I said, I mean, a lot of the stores are still planning to hand out candy, but there will be a couple of stores that are going to opt out this year."
I then asked Pam if there would be a way for parents to know which stores will be participating this year.
"Yeah, so I'm going to go ahead and go around and get a list of the stores that will participate," Pam said on the phone, "And then I will probably make a post on social media about which stores will participate."
Holiday Village Mall Suggests an Additional Activity for Kids to Enjoy Halloween
She also wanted to let people know about another kid-friendly event nearby taking place on Halloween morning.
"And then also, I do know that that morning, the morning of Halloween, Texas Roadhouse is planning to do a Trunk or Treat that morning."

Well, there you have it! Employees were getting stuck with the bill and for some people, money is tight and I totally get that.
With that said, don't always believe what you see on social media and if the organization leaves a phone number inviting people to ask questions... maybe do that first. It's a lot better to get accurate information before trying to hurt the mall and the businesses within the mall that decided to participate without letting everyone know about it.
