The City of Great Falls recently posted on Facebook reminding residents of the laws surrounding graffiti in our community.

Over the winter months, city officials have reported seeing an uptick in graffiti in our community and are asking for the public's help.

How to Report Graffiti In Great Falls

If you notice graffiti in public spaces, whether on park benches, garbage cans, or even on private property, the city of Great Falls asks that you file an online citizen complaint form and report the graffiti.

Any graffiti that is found on personal property should also be reported.

Great Falls City Code On Graffiti

The laws around graffiti are noted in city code 8.5 1.030.

Graffiti is classified as any broken, defective, deteriorated, in disrepair, or defaced property due to any writing, inscription, scratches found on walls, fences, driveways, or walkways.

You may not realize this, but you only have 72 hours to remove graffiti if your property is vandalized.

If you do not do this, you may get a fine.

Both the Great Falls Parks and Recreation Department and the Public Works Department are working to keep public spaces free of graffiti.

The only location in town that will not have all graffiti removed is the Great Falls skate park.

The only graffiti removed in this area would be obscene language or gang related graffiti.

Check out the official city code here for more information on the city's graffiti policies.
