Belt Waste Transfer Station: Temporary Site Now Open
I'm sure you've heard by now that back in December 2024, the solid waste transfer station near Belt abruptly closed following the expiration of its lease agreement between the landowner and Cascade County.
Needless to say, the closure left many area residents in a lurch and forced them to utilize other waste disposal sites in the area.
The good news is that the new waste transfer location is open, with temporary containers in place until the facility can be built out.
Belt Montana Waste Transfer Station
The closure of the original Belt waste transfer station boils down to lease negotiations.
The initial lease was $1500 annually, but the landowner decided to raise fees to $4500, a rather substantial 200% increase from the previous agreement.
Cascade County Commission commissioners later greenlit plans for a new solid waste transfer station to serve the Belt area.
The new transfer station is located at 2298 Tiger Butte Road,
Temporary Waste Disposal Area Belt Montana
There has been some confusion over the new waste disposal area.
The site where the temporary containers are located will, in fact, be the permanent waste transfer location for Belt Montana.
Temporary containers are in place until the new facility is built and running.
Cascade County Commissioners anticipate the new facility will be fully operational sometime this summer.
However, the temporary containers will allow for waste disposal in the meantime.
Belt Dump Hours Of Operation
The temporary containers at the new waste transfer station on Tiger Butte Road will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
These hours will not change once the new site is fully built out.
