As much as we love being outdoors in Montana, there is one thing that can ruin that experience. Mosquitoes. Not only are they a nuisance, they are actually pretty deadly as well.

In fact the CDC has called them the "World’s Deadliest Animal." For something that weighs 2.5 milligrams that's a pretty impressive title.

But it is true, they carry diseases that can kill. Up to 700,000 deaths a year are attributed to mosquitoes.

There are 6 different ways they can hurt or kill.

  • Malaria
  • Zika
  • Dengue
  • Yellow Fever
  • Chikungunya
  • West Nile Virus

Sure most of these are not something we need to worry about in Montana, but West Nile is one we do need to be concerned with. There was even some concern a few years back for Zika affecting those that were pregnant.

So how do you keep these little annoying buggers away from you?

Well you could buy a bunch of citronella candles, but that seems expensive.

You could also use bug spray all summer, but then there is the concern of what chemicals you're spraying on you body.
