Montana's Drunkest City Makes Sense

When it comes to drinking in the Treasure State, some would argue that there is a big problem with how prevalent it is.

Almost any gathering seems to have alcohol attached to it, and while drinking, in this author's opinion, isn't inherently bad, we all know someone who can't just have one or two.

Drinking Statistics Under The Big Sky

Before we reveal the town that 24/7 Wall Street says is the "drunkest" in Montana, let's take a look at some statistics for the whole state.

Excessive drinking by definition is "4 or more drinks on any day, or more than 8 drinks per week for women or more than 15 drinks per week for men," which only 8% of Montana residents meet the criteria for.

Also, drinking for those underage has dropped by almost half over the last decade, as 39% of HS students said they drank in 2011, but that number dropped to 20% in 2021, which is good news.

The Drunkest City In Montana Is....

We said it should come as no surprise the drunkest city, and the reason we say that is because it's a college town that sees almost 25% (24.9% to be exact) of adults admitting to drinking in excess.

That number puts Montana at #3 in America, ranking behind Iowa at 27.4% and Wisconsin at 27.2%.

The town that 24/7 Wall Street says is the drunkest in Montana is none other than Missoula, which also sees 34.3% of all driving deaths in the county involved alcohol, which doesn't even rank as the worst county in Montana.
