Suspect Beth Bakken Arrested In Connection To Case
Beth Bakken was arrested on the same day by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office; they revealed this past Saturday, October 25th.
Ironically enough, she was arrest under different charges, as jail records show she was booked for obstructing a peace officer and jaywalking.
Since then prosecutors have added the additional charges of deliberate homicide and arson.
Volatile Relationship Between Suspect and Victim
Apparently, Beth and the victim, Robert Welch, had an on-and-off relationship. She described it to investigators as volatile and abusive.
Security video footage shows a white van entering the King Arthur Park area around 1:38am and parking near Bedivere Boulevard.
Then at approximately 6:30am flames could be seen coming from the van. Authorities put the fire out, and that is when they discovered the remains of Robert Welch, who was 44.
Suspect Allegedly Admits To The Crime
According to a witness tip, Bakken was reported to have told an acquaintance:
“I lit his a** on fire. He’s a d***.”
KPAX has reported that Bakken is currently being held on a $50,000 bond in the Gallatin County Detention Center and her next court appearance will be held on November 14th.
